Yamaha Is Not Ready to Present Electric Motors in the Short Term – In the midst of the electric motorbike trend that is starting to break, it seems that it has not been able to trigger PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) to carry out its production process. Although the regulation regarding electric vehicles has been passed, PT YIMM believes that currently there are still some considerations needed in selling electric vehicles in Indonesia.

Anton Widiantoro as Manager of Public Relations of PT YIMM said that a deeper preparation is needed to enter the electric motor segment. Although known to be a future vehicle trend, but Yamaha itself reportedly did not want to be too hasty in welcoming the trend.

“We see now the rules, even though the government has issued but there are other considerations, such as where the public station (charging),” Anton said clearly at the Yamaha Flagship Shop, Jakarta, recently.
“Then the rules about whether this electric motorbike is considered as a motorcycle (motorcycle) or as a bicycle (which does not have a vehicle registration), as a rule that he must use a SIM or not, many things are considered,” said Anton.
On the one hand, in terms of technology and innovation, actually PT YIMM itself is ready to produce electric motors. However, his party reportedly still needs a lot of consideration, including in the matter of supporting infrastructure and others.

“When we talk about whether we are ready or not, we have technology, even yesterday a new one arrived at 2019 TMS, all that’s left is just the right preparation and time, and in Indonesia, too,” he said.
Apart from that, a heavy competitor, Honda PCX also has an opinion that is not much different. The reason is, it is reported that his side is not yet ready in producing electric vehicles in Indonesia considering that it still needs consideration, especially from the matter of supporting infrastructure.
